[Review] Skinfood Royal Honey & Propolis Essence

Good morning!!! 😀 I’m having my Monday-morning coffee and getting excited about reviewing my new favorite product:

INGREDIENTS:

Propolis extract (50%). Royal Jelly extract (20%), Honey (10%), glycerol, dipropylene glycol, butylene glycol, portulaca oleracea extract, arginine, beta-glucan, disodium EDTA, sodium hyaluronate, hydroxyethylcellulose, carbomer, phenoxyethanol

On CosDNA, Carbomer showed up under “irritant” as a 1, and Butylene Glycol showed up under “acne” as a 1.

First off, the packaging for this product is to DIE for! It’s solid glass (feels luxurious), is shaped hexagonal like a section of beehive (so cute!!), and the dispenser is SO easy (effortless??) to use:

You unscrew the cap one full turn to lift essence into the dropper/dispenser, and a button simultaneously lifts out of the cap:

Then, unscrew the cap all the way to reveal:

And push the raised button on top to very easily dispense it onto the palm of your hand – this is one dropper-full, which is enough for the entire face:

It does smell a bit like honey! It’s viscous, but no more viscous than any other serum I’ve tried. It absorbs quickly into the skin with the use of a toner (I’ve never tried it without one), and it’s not sticky at all. After absorption, my skin feels so soft!

I’ve been using it for two weeks now, every morning and night. I absolutely love it! I knew I did the second day I’d used it – my skin was calmer, less irritated, and the redness was gone from my face. I was impressed! My skin is still doing very well! It feels more supple and smooth than before, and I feel this had something to do with it. I’m going to get a back up as soon as I hit the half-way mark! 😉

If you aren’t allergic to honey or propolis, then I recommend giving this a try! It’s good for those with normal to dry skin like me, and it’s not heavy or sticky to the point where I would hesitate to recommend it to those with oily/combo skin. It’s a really nice product, and makes me excited to try out the Watery Berry Ampoule samples that I got from Skinfood too. I suspect there may be another purchase on the horizon… :3

Have any of you tried it? What do you think?

    1. I actually used it all up – it’ll be in my next empties post! But I’m not repurchasing just because I can’t fit it in my current budget right now. But it’s definitely great stuff and when I CAN purchase it again, I totally will! Plus the packaging feels so elegant that it’s such a pleasure to use it every time!
